Tragic Anniversary, 10 lat temu, 12 stycznia, o godz 16.53 czasu lokalnego,na Haiti nastąpiło trzęsienie ziemi o magnitudzie 7 w skali Richtera.Potem nastąpiła seria wstrząsów wtórnych.Ponieważ epicentrum znajdowało się niedaleko stolicy kraju Port au Prince, W tej niewyobrażalnej tragedii zginęło około 200 – 300 tys. mieszkańców.Zginął jeden Polak pracujący dla organizacji międzynarodowej oraz bliżej nieokreślona liczba Haitańczyków o korzeniach polskich.
Tragic Anniversary, 10 years ago, 12 January, at 16.53 local time, Haiti magnitude 7 magnitude earthquake followed. A series of aftershocks followed. Because the epicenter was near the capital of Port au Prince, this unimaginable tragedy was killed about 200-300 thousand residents. One Pole working for an international organization and an unspecified number of Haitians with Polish roots were killed.

Zginęło kilkuset obcokrajowców.Około 2 mln mieszkańców ucierpiało w inny sposób. Odniosło rany oraz straciło dach nad głową.Zniszczeniu uległa większość historycznych budynków w stolicy.Dane o liczbie poszkodowanych z uwagi na rozmiar tragedii nie mogły być ściśle określone.
Ponadto wystąpiło zagrożenie chorobami epidemiolognicznymi w tym cholerą.Pomocy medycznej, a także innej, zaczęły udzielać, kraje ościenne w tym USA, Kuba oraz Unia Europejska, w tym Polska.Niestety nastąpiła plaga grabieży i innych incydentów.
Koniecznym okazało się wprowadzenie międzynarodowych sił wojskowych do przeciwdziałania takiej sytuacji.
Po kilku latach widzieliśmy skutki tego trzęsienia i mamy informacje od mieszkańców.W jakiś sposób powyższe skutki związane są z aktualnymi niepokojami społecznymi na Haiti w roku 2019. Several hundred foreigners were killed, and around 2 million people suffered in other ways. They suffered wounds and lost their homes. Most of the historic buildings in the capital were destroyed. Data on the number of victims due to the size of the tragedy could not be precisely determined.
In addition, there was a threat of epidemiological diseases, including cholera. Medical and other assistance began to be provided by neighboring countries, including the USA, Cuba and the European Union, including Poland. Unfortunately, there was a plague of plunder and other incidents.
It was necessary to introduce international military forces to counteract such a situation.
After several years, we saw the effects of this earthquake and we have information from the residents. Somehow the above effects are related to current social unrest in Haiti in 2019. We are filmmakers and we are returning to Haiti at the end of January. We have an extensive archive about travels across 100 countries through 7 continents.
